Tohoku University Technology: Gene Introduction Device and Gene Introduction Method: T13-033

Achieving minimally invasive gene introduction with overwhelmingly high cell survival rates and introduction efficiency using an atmospheric pressure plasma device!

Gene introduction technology is actively researched in the production of iPS cells and gene therapy, with various methods proposed. Traditional representative techniques include electroporation, viral methods, and liposome introduction methods. However, each has challenges such as low survival rates, side effects, and limitations on the genes that can be introduced. The present invention develops a method for high-efficiency, low-invasive gene introduction by irradiating cells with "atmospheric pressure plasma," which activates the cell membrane through chemical stimulation from short-lived reactive species in the plasma and electrical stimulation from an electric field locally formed on the cell surface, allowing genes to be taken up into the cells.

Gene delivery device "MaxCyte STX"

Capable of processing from small quantities to large quantities! A gene introduction device applicable from basic research to clinical use.

The "MaxCyte STX" is a cell transfection device from MaxCyte, Inc. that can process a large number of cells at once (capable of transfecting 100 million cells). MaxCyte's transfection technology is based on the general principle of electroporation, which enhances temporary membrane permeability by generating an electric field in a cell suspension to introduce external substances such as DNA into the cells. The "MaxCyte STX" utilizes this fundamental principle and is a patented electroporation system that is simple and flexible, allowing for processing from small to large scales. 【Features】 - Simplicity and flexibility of the system enabling processing from small to large scales - Stable transfection performance → High transfection efficiency and cell viability - Wide range of applications → From basic research to clinical applications For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

Photoporation gene introduction device / LumiPore

Cell-friendly gene introduction: Next-generation transfection platform

Using the latest photoporation technology, a wide variety of cells, including iPS cells and CAR-T cells, can be introduced with various substances such as nucleic acids, proteins, and CRISPR/Cas9 RNPs. This method provides minimal damage during introduction, high survival rates, and achieves efficient transfection with high throughput. Photoporation is a gentle method for delivering payloads to cells based on the interaction between pulsed laser light and photothermal nanosenstizers. When laser light is applied to unique nanosenstizers adjacent to the cells, temporary pores are formed in the cell membrane through localized plasmonic reactions, allowing external payloads to enter the cytoplasm with minimal impact on cell survival and function. This technology serves as a next-generation transfection platform that efficiently, flexibly, and safely delivers various payloads to a wide range of cells, including primary cells, where transfection is challenging.
